Luke 4:18-19 ” The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
In Luke Chapter 4:19-19 Jesus tells us that “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to peach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Jesus’ declaration in these two verses, are a powerful statement and testament to our responsibilities as a community of faith. As purveyors of the gospel, we must be intentional about spreading the message that God is concerned about and cares about the various social injustices that men, women and children continually face.
